Are blogs still worth it in an AI-driven world?
There’s been a lot of noise recently around whether blogs, and SEO more broadly, are still relevant, particularly as AEO sets itself steadily on the agenda.
So the short answer is yes, but they need to evolve. What’s changing isn’t the value of content. It’s how that content is discovered, interpreted, and trusted.
Buyers are no longer relying on a single source of information. Instead, they are asking AI tools for answers, scanning multiple sources, and validating through real-world input. This means your content is no longer competing just with other websites. It’s competing with AI summaries, social conversations, and community insights. And that changes what “good” content looks like.
What is AEO and why does it matter?
Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO) is about ensuring your content is:
- structured clearly
- written in natural language
- valuable enough to be used as a reference
AI tools don’t just rank content. They interpret it. They prioritise clarity, relevance, and credibility. That means content that is overly polished, generic, or keyword-heavy tends to underperform.
From what we’re seeing (and what was reinforced at HubSpot Grow), strong content now:
- answers real questions directly
- uses clear structure and headings
- includes specific insights and examples
- provides balanced perspectives
- is backed by proof (stats, experience, or outcomes)
This is where blogs still play a critical role as they allow you to go deeper, provide context, and demonstrate expertise in a way short-form content can’t.
Why do human conversations influence AI?
Put simply – AI is trained on them. Platforms like Reddit, LinkedIn, and forums are shaping how AI understands sentiment, credibility, and nuance. This is why content that feels human performs better and reflects the way people actually think and speak.
How are we approaching this at Versed?
As a HubSpot partner, we’re now actively incorporating AEO thinking into:
- blog structures (notice the question-based headings in this blog? The natural language?)
- website content
- knowledge bases
- and broader content strategies
It’s not about replacing SEO, it’s about strengthening it, so content performs across both search and AI-driven environments.
Are blogs still worth the investment?
Yes – if they are done well.
Blogs remain one of the best ways to:
- build authority
- support SEO
- provide depth
- and create reusable content across channels
But they need to be intentional, structured, and genuinely useful.
Blogs aren’t dead. But the expectation and best practice has changed. If your content isn’t answering real questions, providing real value, and sounding like a real person – it won’t be found, and it won’t be trusted.
